Attrition is a considerable problem to adults once more than a quarter of the crown has been lost. Very often there is not the same degree of wear on each tooth, due to rotation and crowding. It is possible to create some degree of "bite opening" by aligning the teeth and slightly proclining or tetroclining the upper and/or lower labial segments, to allow extensive restoration of the occlusion with crowns an in some cases veneers.
